If you have thinning hair, wrinkles, or other cosmetic concerns, it’s not uncommon to look for an effective solution. Many people turn to drugstore products or high-end serums to resolve these issues, but those rarely produce significant results. A great solution to both hair loss and skin imperfections is EZPRF.
EZPRF is an innovative aesthetic treatment that uses your body’s own platelet-rich fibrin to promote hair growth and restore skin vitality. Live Medpsa in Doral, FL, provides PRF therapy to help clients feel like the best version of themselves. Continue reading to learn more about EZPRF and how PRF treatments differ from PRP therapy.
What Is EZPRF?
EZPRF is an aesthetic medical procedure using the patient’s platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to resolve hair loss or certain skin imperfections. It’s considered to be a more effective alternative to PRP therapy, which uses platelet-rich plasma to stimulate a healing response beneath your skin.
PRF treatments like EZPRF are minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures that allow patients to return home the same day as their session. This factor makes them a popular option for people who want to resolve hair loss or signs of aging without more extensive procedures like hair transplants and facelift surgery.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin vs. Platelet-Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich fibrin or PRF is similar to another popular cosmetic treatment, PRP therapy. Both of these treatments use the patient’s own blood to resolve common aesthetic issues in a natural and minimally-invasive manner.
With that being said, the two treatments do have some distinct differences. Learn more about PRF vs. PRP procedures below.
PRF Therapy
In PRF therapy, platelet-rich fibrin is separated from the blood to be used for certain cosmetic benefits. Platelet-rich fibrin is the portion of your blood that contains a high concentration of fibrin cells, which are known for intense healing properties.
PRF treatments like EZPRF are often used to resolve the following aesthetic issues:
- Thinning hair
- Bald spots
- Receding hairline
- Poor hair quality
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Facial creasing
- Scarring
- Enlarged pores
- Sun damage
The EZPRF treatment spins down your blood at a slower speed than PRP treatments, separating the platelet-rich fibrin at a slower pace. This produces a more concentrated solution that can provide you with more beneficial, healing platelets.
When applied to the facial skin, PRF treatments can serve as microneedling procedures as well. When the PRF injections are administered into the skin, they make microscopic punctures that stimulate a healing response. This takes the effects of traditional microneedling and amplifies their intensity.
PRP Therapy
PRP therapy is a cosmetic treatment in which platelet-rich plasma is used to address a wide range of complexion issues. Platelet-rich plasma has numerous healing properties, but its effects are less intense than PRF treatments. This is because the concentration of platelets in PRP is not as high.
PRP treatments can be used to resolve the following cosmetic concerns:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Facial creasing
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scarring
- Thinning hair
Most PRP treatments are considered microneedling procedures as well. This is because the punctures made when the PRP is injected into your skin can serve the same purpose as a traditional microneedling treatment.
The Complete EZPRF Process
Are you new to PRF therapy or EZPRF treatment? Find out what you can expect during this procedure in the complete step-by-step breakdown below.
Before
Prior to having an EZPRF session, you’ll need to have a consultation with one of our cosmetic medicine providers. We will assess your hair loss or complexion concerns to confirm that PRF therapy is the right choice for you.
If you are deemed a good candidate for EZPRF, you’ll be able to move forward with your treatment. If not, we’ll discuss aesthetic treatments that may be a better fit for you.
On the day of your PRF session, you’ll need to wash your scalp with a mild shampoo. If you are receiving PRF treatment on your face, wash the skin with a gentle cleanser.
Do not apply any products to your scalp or skin. This includes styling products, cosmetics, or topical treatments. Your skin should be completely bare when you arrive for your session.
During
During your EZPRF session, you’ll be able to sit or lie back comfortably while one of our providers administers treatment. We’ll begin by drawing a small blood sample from which to harvest the PRF. The blood is spun down using a centrifuge until the platelet-rich fibrin is separated from the red blood cells.
This PRF is then injected into your desired treatment areas using an ultrafine needle. The combined effect of the PRF injections and the punctures from the needle stimulates a deep healing response.
After
The EZPRF session can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the concerns being treated. Once your treatment is complete, you can return home and resume your normal activities. EZPRF requires no recovery or downtime afterward.
It will take several weeks to see the results of your PRF treatment. For complexion concerns, your skin will need time to heal and produce new skin cells and collagen. For thinning hair, it will take several weeks to months to see new hair growth.
